lyrics
Spreading the Infection
Don’t go away. Don’t leave me here!
Don’t leave me, here in this wretched place of infection,
My heart will rot.
You’ll never know, the pain that you thrust upon me,
Every breath, you take, is a sin.
You’ll never know, how much that you meant to me,
Our end of days, the end of years, is nigh.
Take my flaming ashes, and burn my eulogy in two,
Let not the sun; go down upon your wrath,
Release me, from the heavens above,
So I can roam, the plains of earth.
You’ll never know, the pain that you thrust upon me,
Every breath you take is a sin,
You’ll never know, how much that you meant to me,
Our end of days, the end of years is nigh.
I feel it, eating away,
This blackened hole, where my lungs used to be.
Rip me from the womb,
I will still remain,
In this day of damnation,
I will become your pain!
You’ll never know, the pain that you thrust upon me,
Every breath you take is a sin,
You’ll never know, how much that you meant to me,
Our end of days, the end of years is nigh.

It may not be a surprise to know that my introduction to this band was when they opened for Deströyer 666. I admit, their name didn't fill me with an abundance of anticipatory enthusiasm beforehand, but goddamn! did they own that stage while they were out there! Morts

Death metal can generally be a bit hit and miss as I'm sure some of you would agree. Sometimes it can be little more than incessant noise - dull and meaningless. Fortunately this eponymous release from Aussie band Catacombs steers way clear of that and belongs well and truly in the awesome soul expanding form of the genre! You don't just hear it, you FEEL it! With its rawness its darkness and its subtle spark of light, this album is the perfect example of what I'm looking for when it comes to black metal. Haunting, melodic, agressive but also very cryptic. This album is really a "must have" for those who love emotional dark music. Mathieu Triboire
